Natural Products Laboratory

Natural Products Laboratory

Description of Facilities

The objective of this laboratory is to expand research in the area of natural products aimed at identifying bioactive molecules with potential activity against Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). This is accomplished by: providing technical support to users of the Natural Products Anti-HIV Drug Screening Laboratory, establishing the in vitro anti-HIV assay used at the NCI for screening of natural products, and providing training invitro anti-HIV screening techniques to investigators and graduate students.

The facility provides a unique complement to ongoing research in the Medical Sciences Campus, strengthen undergraduate and graduate programs at the School of Pharmacy, and stimulate collaborative efforts with national scientists and the pharmaceutical industry.
