AIDS and Emerging Diseases Lab

Description of the Facilities

The AIDS and Emerging Infectious Diseases Program (AEIDP) addresses health disparities issues relevant to the Puerto Rican and Caribbean populations. The goal of this multidisciplinary program is to enhance research capabilities in AIDS and emerging infectious diseases by allowing the integration of the resources and expertise needed by basic and clinical scientists working with emerging infectious diseases. In addition, this program serves to integrate our clinical and basic research faculty in order to be equipped to respond more rapidly to new infectious disease threats to the local community. Basic and clinical sciences faculty members participate in this Program.

The AEIDP is located at the Department of Microbiology and Medical Zoology on the third floor of the Medical Sciences Campus. Facilities include fluorescence microscopy and tissue culture rooms as well as general laboratory space used in
