RCMI International Research Symposium Steering Committee Meets to Start Planning Activities
The RCMI International Research Symposium Steering Committee met in Puerto Rico on September 9 and 10. The committee started the planning activities for the next RCMI International Symposium to be held in Puerto Rico next year.

Dr. Pedro J. Santiago-Borrero Named New Chancellor of the Medical Sciences Campus
On the morning of Wednesday, September 1st, 1999 the Board of Directors of the University of Puerto Rico officially named Dr. Pedro Juan Santiago-Borrero the new Chancellor of the Medical Sciences Campus. Dr. Santiago-Borrero had been Acting Chancellor of the MSC since January of this year.

Members of the RCMI Program's External Advisory Committee visited the Medical Sciences Campus on February 17-18, 2000. Drs. Heinz Valtin, Ann Le Furgey, Peter Ingram, Susan Baserga, and Shenghan Lai conducted their annual evaluation of the program and its activites. This year's visit focused on the renewal application of the Program, which will be submitted to the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) on August 15, 2000.
