Medical Students Present Posters as Part of Neurosciences Course
As part of their Neurosciences course, the first year medical students prepared poster presentations on some aspects of neuroscience, either clinical or basic science, which they wanted to explore more thoroughly. Thirteen posters were developed by groups of 3 to 10 students, including one by two graduate students. The topics chosen by the students ranged from spongiform encephalitis and prions to attention deficit disorder to molecular biology methods in neuroscience. The posters were displayed in the Medical Sciences Campus Student Center on February 26, the last day of the course, and all faculty and students at the Campus were invited. The authors were present at their posters from 10 AM until noon to explain their work to interested visitors. The Deanship of Medicine sponsored refreshments and provided the poster board for display. In exceess of 250 people participated in the activity, which was so sucessful that it will likely become an annual activity in the Neurosciences Course.
