Drs. Ann Le Furgey and Peter Ingram Participate in Seminar Series
Dr. Ann Le Furgey and Dr. Peter Ingram, both of Duke University in North Carolina, presented the seminar "Analytical Microscopy: Basic and Clinical Applications" as part of the 1998-1999 RCMI Special Seminar Series last February 10th. The seminar was co-sponsored by the RCMI Basic Research Program and the RCMI Clinical Research Center.
The presenters discussed their current projects at the Analytical Electron Microscopy Laboratory at Duke University which focus on the development and applications of analytical electron, light and x-ray microscopy and imaging to biological, environmental and biomedical research. In these projects, faculty members and students research structural biology problems in heart and kidney diseases, diabetes and hypertension, and laser-induced cell injury; on environmental and environmental health problems; and on computer aided imaging techniques based in part on artificial intelligence methods.
Dr. Le Furgey and Dr. Ingram also participated in the CEMU Open House and the RCMI Basic Research Program External Advisory Committee Meeting during their visit to the Medical Sciences Campus (see related stories).
