The paper HPLC–MS/MS method for the intracellular determination of ribavirin monophosphate and ribavirin triphosphate in CEMss cells was recently published in the Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis by a team that includes Dr. José F. Rodríguez-Orengo, Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. Dr. Margarita Meléndez, from the Department of Chemistry, from the University of Puerto Rico Rio Piedras Campus, is the lead author. Other co-authors include Dr. Osvaldo Rosario, also from the Department of Chemistry, and Dr. Beatriz Zayas, from the School of Environmental Affairs, Metropolitan University in San Juan

The team developed a new method for the determination of ribavirin monophosphate (RBV-MP) and ribavirin triphosphate (RBV-TP) in cells using high performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC–MS/MS). This method was successfully used for the in vitro determination of RBV-MP and RBV-TP in CEMss cells cultured with RBV.
