REDCap Seminar at the RCMI Clinical Research Center
Brenda G. Nieves presented an introductory seminar on the Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap)system. The talk was held on May, 15, 2008 at the RCMI Clinical Research Center, and was co-sponsored by the Center’s Biostatistical Core and the RCMI Collaborative Technologies Initiative. About twenty investigators and data coordinators participated in the seminar.
The purpose of this presentation was to describe the main features of the software for creating and managing clinical databases. Topics included workflow for database creation, data entry procedures and use of the export module. Several investigators expressed their interest in considering REDCap for their clinical database management needs.
Vanderbilt University, with collaboration from other institutions, has developed REDCap, a software toolset and workflow methodology to manage research data for clinical research studies. Paul Harris, PhD, is REDCap’s project leaderat Vanderbilt. Dr. Harris is a Research Associate Professor of Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt University, with a joint appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. He currently serves as Vanderbilt’s CTSA Director of Biomedical Informatics Operations, and leads the REDCap consortium.More information about the REDCapproject is available at: http://www.iwg-online.org/projects/redcap/index.php
