Dr. Emma Fernández-Repollet Nominated by NCRR
to Serve on the Advisory Committee that Will Evaluate the BRIN/INBRE Program
Dr. Emma Fernandez-Repollet has been invited to participate in the NCRR Advisory Committee that will evaluate the BRIN/INBRE Program. This program is a major component of NIH's Institutional Development Award (IDeA) initiative, and is designed to enhance the research capacity and competitiveness of institutions located in IDeA-eligible states (i.e., those states that have traditionally been less successful in competing for NIH grant awards). The advisory committee is composed of researchers and administrators from IDeA and non-IDeA states as well as an economist. Committee members will provide assistance in identifying program and institutional characteristics likely to be predictive of success, reviewing data summarizing the currently funded INBRE awardees and institutions, prioritizing study questions, and advising NCRR on how the proposed evaluation design can be improved before it is implemented.
Dr. Fernandez-Repollet was nominated by NCRR to serve on the advisory committee because of her expertise and knowledge of the scientific, infrastructure, management, and economic needs of emerging centers of research excellence. The first Advisory Committee meeting will be held in Bethesda, Maryland on September 7-8, 2005.
