Medical Sciences Campus Joins ResearchChannel
The University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus joined ResearchChannel as a Supporting Participant effective September 1st, 2003. This collaboration is made possible through the RCMI Program.
ResearchChannel is a consortium of leading research universities, institutions and corporate research centers dedicated to disseminate information about research issues through video and Internet channels. This consortium collaborates with participating institutions to achieve its founding goals, which include developing an international media presence for research activity; maximizing public access to research resources; creating accessible, high-quality video resources for scientific communities, and leading experiments that develop high-speed, high-bandwidth exchange methods for research information.
ResearchChannel broadcasts the latest research information to over 17 million television households throughout the United States. Audiences worldwide have access to ResearchChannel's continuous webcast and searchable on-demand video library of over 1300 full-length programs. These resources are available at Internet2, cable, DSL and modem bandwidths. In addition to popular media distribution, ResearchChannel actively tests new technologies to create robust, high-speed channels serving scientific communities.
Through the participation in the ResearchChannel, the RCMI Program is providing the Medical Sciences Campus with an excellent opportunity to collaborate with other participating institutions in the pursuit of the consortium goals, as well as to disseminate information about our research activities.
