The USAMRMC operates six medical research laboratories and institutes in the United States. These laboratories make up the core science and technology capability of the Command. They center in the excellence of specific areas of biomedical research and are enhanced by a large extramural contract research program, and numerous cooperative research and development (R&D) agreements with leading R&D organizations in the civilian sector. The USAMRMC also manages special research projects requested by Congress in the areas of breast cancer, prostate cancer, Parkinson’s disease and mad-cow disease.
