Dr. Melvin Spann Visits RCMI Center for Information Architecture in Research
Dr. Melvin L. Spann visited the RCMI Center for Information Architecture in Research on April 29 and 30. During his visit, Dr. Spann evaluated the progress of the Center and provided advise on further development.
Dr. Spann earned a BS degree in chemistry from Howard University, as well as MS and PhD degrees in chemistry/information science from American University. His distinguished career includes the development of a variety of important databases at the National Library of Medicine, including TOXLINE. After 35 years of public service, he retired from the National Library of Medicine as Associate Director for Specialized Information Services. He was recently appointed member of the Medical Sciences Campus RCMI External Advisory Committee.
The RCMI Program is honored to have Dr. Spann as a collaborator. His experience, intelligence and enthusiasm made a lasting impression in our faculty and staff.
