Leadership Retreat

A leadership retreat, organized by the Society of Research Administrators (SRA), was held on August 4-7, 2001, in Winston-Salem North Carolina. Mr. Norberto Pérez, Director of the Office of Contracts and Financial Administration, UPR Medical Sciences Campus, and Dr. Emma Fernández-Repollet, RCMI Program Director, attended the activity. The retreat included a visit to the Research Triangle Park, the Centennial Research Park and the Piedmont Triad Research Park.

Julie B. Cole, Executive Director of Research Programs and Partnerships at Wake Forest University, chaired the Program Committee. The program focused on the functional and structural challenges facing research managers in government, academic and non-profit research organizations. Special attention was given to the requirements for preparing new leaders in research management.
