Bioinformatician Joins The Center for Collaborative Research in Health Disparities
Dr. Roche‐Lima earned his Bachelor degree in Computer Science from the University of Havana, Cuba, his Master in Computer Science from the University of Santa Catarina in Brazil, and his PhD in Computational Sciences from the University of Manitoba, Canada. His research areas of expertise include Bioinformatics, Machine Learning, and Biological Network Predictions. His technical skills comprise programming languages and packages; operating system and environments; developing biological database and applications; working with machine learning and representation methods, and analyzing biological networks. Dr. Roche‐Lima will be working on establishing bioinformatics services and tools at the Center for Collaborative Research in Health Disparities and developing collaborations with researchers who are utilizing bioinformatics within and outside the UPR Medical Sciences Campus. We are confident that our scientific community will collaborate with Dr. Roche‐Lima in accomplishing his new responsibilities and strategic plan, timely and successfully.
The recruitment of Dr. Roche‐Lima represents a collaborative effort between the CCRHD and the Puerto Rico Trust for Science, Technology and Research. The CCRHD thanks administrative officials at the University of Puerto Rico Central Administration and the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus, as well as Search Committee members for their valuable assistance during the recruitment process.
